雨の日、仕事の合間、20年ぶりに高山寺石水院へ。
他に参拝客はおらず、耳に入ってくるのは、雨の音と川の音だけ。
やわらかなラインの杮葺き屋根、人のモジュールになじむ木柄の大きさ、緩やかな化粧庇。意図的と思われる、景色を切り取る額縁の役割を果たしている蔀(しとみ)戸。
社寺建築の型式でありながら、シンボリックでも荘厳でもなく、素朴で、控えめ、ところどころにかすかに感じさせる、この時代にはまだ生まれていない数寄屋建築の気配。 その気配は、言葉で表現すると、“周囲の自然との調和を意識した空間作り”だと思う。 I went to the temple for the first time in 20 years, taking advantage of my work vacation due to rain.
There were no other customers ,and all I can hear is the sound of rain and the river flow.
This architecture has the style of shrines and temples, but I can feel the little ambience of Sukiya style architecture that wasn't born in this era yet.
Expressing that ambience in words, I think it is "designing a space with an awareness of harmony with the surrounding nature."
